We had a young couple bring their 2019 Volkswagen Golf for us to take a look at. They had four tiny dents, each under an inch, two on the rail 
and two on the roof.

Most of the warranty companies have a similar process for filing a claim. When you purchase the warranty, you will have a page in the contract that gives instructions. You need to provide this page or the information on it to your repair shop. Once the repair shop has seen your damage (best practice would be an in-person assessment) and provided you with an estimate, then the repair shop will call the warranty company. While each warranty company is different, they all have guidelines to follow as far as how much they are willing to pay, and the size of damage that qualifies for a paintless dent repair as opposed to a traditional body shop. We’ve had companies who are not willing to pay over $100 for a dent Four inches or less. Our service starts at $165 and that covers one inch with no other added issues. (IE bodyline, aluminum panel, or obstructed access are a few things that will increase the cost of repair.) In these cases, those companies will not work with us on price and there is no middle ground to work towards. Those warranty repairs are dead upon arrival. Our customers have two options here: Go with us and get the best repair but pay out of pocket, or find another company that will work within the guidelines of the warranty. We’ve had customers do both so it comes down to what is most important to the customer.
In other instances, we’ve had companies who want to pay less than we charge for a repair, and we can negotiate an acceptable price that they will cover, on a repair that the customer is happy with, that we feel is a great repair we would charge you for. More often than not, this is where most warranty companies fall, and our customers appreciate the flexibility.
In the case of the young couple and their Volkswagen Golf, I will say it was one of the smoothest warranty repair processes I’ve been involved with. I was very apprehensive when I first called them. The Golf had 4 separate dents, two on the rail, and 2 on the roof. All were under an inch in size. We put together an estimate, and I called the warranty company. I explained that there were four separate dents and the representative I spoke with was exceptionally friendly, we were able to get approval for the repair for the full amount and schedule our customer the same week.
