2023 TESLA MODEL Y PAINTLESS DENT REPAIR UPPER ST. CLAIR

Vandalism is an eyesore and a disheartening thing to see in your town whether it’s on businesses that are still open and running or abandoned homes. Bored kids breaking windows or graffiti taggers who enjoy defacing property, or pain old criminals who get a thrill out of destroying someone else’s property. We shake our heads in disgust but until it affects us directly or costs us money, it’s someone else’s problem. Imagine getting up in the morning, having your coffee and heading to the gym before work. That is what John was doing one day in January of this year. Just his ordinary daily routine. Right up until he left the gym to head to work. Then the thing you never think will happen to you, happens. You walk up to your brand-new Tesla Model Y and see 2 dents the size of someone’s foot in your Tesla. John was understandably upset and wanted to know who had done this, and why! John walked back into the gym to ask about cameras or if anyone saw anything. For the sake of this post and the story, I will tell you, the culprit was never caught, but John’s Tesla wasn’t the only electric car vandalized that morning. While John was inside the gym talking to a couple other patrons, he said he was sick about having to take his car to the body shop and being without his car, and having the door and fender repainted. One of the other guys heard him and said hey! He handed John a business card and said “Call these guys! They are fantastic! They did work on my truck when a deer hit me.”

John wasn’t familiar with paintless dent repair.  He looked up Dent Repair Now online to find out more about the process.  He learned that paintless dent repair also referred to as PDR, is a specialized technique used to remove dents from vehicle surfaces without the need for traditional bodywork involving sanding, filling, and repainting. Instead, skilled technicians manipulate the metal back to its original shape from behind the affected area using specialized tools. This process preserves the integrity of the vehicle’s original paint job, making it a preferred method for addressing minor dings, dents, and hail damage. He also learned that Dent Repair Now specializes in larger damage! Paintless dent repair is not only cost-effective but also environmentally friendly since it eliminates the use of harmful chemicals associated with repainting. It’s a precise and non-invasive approach that maintains the vehicle’s factory finish and resale value.  This was exactly what John wanted to hear!

John gave us a call, and we scheduled an appointment for him to bring his Tesla in for an assessment.  While talking with him, he said he felt that his car was targeted because it’s an electric car.  And the damage appeared to be two separate hits, so not a door ding, not a side swipe, honestly, when we saw it, it definitely looked like someone kicked the car.  We worked on our estimate and as we priced out the repair, it was going to be more than John’s insurance deductible and because this was considered vandalism, his insurance covered it.  We worked with his insurance company, and the repair only took two days, and because he had rental included in his policy, he was able to not be without a car. (Thanks Enterprise!)

SIDEBAR:  Depending on your insurance policy and coverage, paintless dent repair can be covered under your comprehensive coverage. This type of insurance is optional coverage to take care of damage not caused by a collision.  For instance, it can cover vandalism, or damage sustained from a storm (i.e., hail, objects flying in the wind, and even acorn damage.) Comprehensive coverage may be required by your lender until your vehicle is paid in full.  It’s definitely one of those things that is better to have and not need it, than to need it and not have it for sure.
