What is PDR?

PDR Basics

PDR is paintless dent repair or paintless dent removal, the terms are interchangeable and mean exactly the same thing. PDR is a technique that was originally used in the 1940’s on the Mercedes Benz assembly line as a way for their workers to remove minor dings without having to take the vehicle off of the assembly line.

Here’s a quick video of us performing a dent repair on a fender with a slight crease. We shot the repair using time lapse photography to show you the entire process that took somewhere around an hour to complete in just a couple minutes. Thanks for watching!

PDR Process

The current process for PDR allows highly skilled trained technicians to remove door dings, minor dents, hail damage and even larger dents without the need for any refinishing of the panel.

For most damage we use specialized tools to access the back of the dent and then the metal is massaged back into place. For the times that we can’t access the back of the dent we have a whole array of special tabs and specialized hot melt adhesive that lets us work the dent from the outside of the panel.

Paintless dent removal is possible on nearly any vehicle newer than 1985 that is painted with a modern paint.
