We had a customer stop at our shop in Robinson Township (Pennsylvania).  He brought his 2017 Buick Regal for us to take a look at.  Other than the damage to his right passenger door, the car was in immaculate condition.  He was exceptionally irritated.  He came in and began to tell us the story about parking in a local public parking lot.  He had completed his shopping and was walking towards his car.  The car two spots over started to back out and hit his door!  He heard it hit, and his car moved like when your kids were jumping in the back seat.  He hurried to his car, thinking the other driver would pull back in, but he did not!  He drove away…..quickly.  (On a side note, yes, he called to report it, and there were no cameras.  So, unfortunately it is unlikely anyone will find the culprit.)  Stan took his car home and began to call body shops in his area.  He got an appointment at a body shop we work with often.  The guys at Ross Paint and Body looked at his car.  They could replace the door, paint it, and make it look brand new, for over $1700.  One of the guys told Stan that paintless dent repair might be an even better option for repair.  He said it would most likely cost less, and there was a good chance he could have it done sooner as many body shops are scheduling out a month or more.  He gave Stan our number.   Stan looked us up online and gave us a call.  He stopped in the next day and spoke with our lead paintless dent repair technician, Dave.  Stan told  Dave he had never heard of paintless dent repair.  Dave explained the process to him.

“Paintless dent repair is a way to remove cosmetic dents from the panel of motor vehicles.  We say cosmetic because if it goes beyond that, it is considered structural damage requiring a body shop for repair.  The goal is to get one of our tools which are long (and short)

rods with very specialized tips behind the damaged panel.  From there, we massage and manipulate the metal (either steel or aluminum) back to its original shape.”

We provided Stan with his estimate which was substantially less than the body shop.  Because his paint was intact, we could remove the interior panel of the door for access, and the dent was deep, but not too deep that the metal itself was stretched, we were able to repair Stan’s Buick Regal in one day the following week.  We saved him over $800, preserved his original factory paint, and therefore maintaining his cars value and keeping his trade in value up.  We also completed the repair in one day, saving him a week or more of being without his car. And lastly, his repair was less than his insurance deductible. So he chose to pay out of pocket rather than filing a claim with his insurance company. (Although Stan said if he ever “gets his hands on the degenerates who hit his car…….”   I’ll let you imagine the rest.)  Stan was a really unhappy fella when he came to our shop, but we were able to educate, show him the benefit of our service, and turn Stan’s frown upside down!  All of us here at Dent Repair Now believe that we have a Moral Obligation to show and tell you how paintless dent repair is the (most times) the very best option for car, truck, and SUV repairs.  We even have an article all about the moral obligation you can read on our blog.
